New Instagram DM Filters Help Creators Manage Messages
One of the latest innovations by Instagram, is the addition of Direct Message (DM) filters, designed to help creators manage their message requests more effectively.
As explained by IG chief Adam Mosseri
“When you go to the requests inbox, sometimes it can be really overwhelming, and I’ve heard this a lot from creators I’ve talked around the world. So what we’ve done is we’ve added ways to filter down those requests to just see the ones that you’re looking for.”
The Need for DM Filters
The influx of messages ranging from inquiries to collaboration is overwhelming and this sifting through messages often led to “missed opportunities” as per many creators.
In the above examples, creators will now be able to sort and filter their message requests via various qualifiers.
So what will the creators be able to do?
Instagram’s DM filters allow creators to sort through message requests using specific qualifiers.
Sender’s Follower Count: For instance, messages from users with a certain follower threshold can be prioritized, helping creators focus on potential collaborations.
Brand Accounts: This filter allows creators to easily identify messages from verified brand accounts. Verified Accounts from Other Creators: Creators can also filter messages from verified accounts.
Story Replies: One of the standout features is the ability to filter replies to stories making it easier to prioritize followers who actually engage in your content.

It seems like that’s the challenge Instagram is aiming to solve with these new filters—helping large creators quickly sort through their DMs so they don’t miss any important messages.
