YouTube Ad Sales reach $10.5 Billion in Q4

YouTube has hit a significant milestone in Q4 2024, generating $10.5 billion in advertising revenue, marking a 13.8% year-over-year increase and breaking the $10 billion quarterly threshold for the first time. In Q3 YouTube's Ad revenue increased by 12%.
The platform's total revenue across all services, including YouTube Premium and YouTube TV (which now boasts over 9 million U.S. subscribers), exceeded $50 billion for the 12-month period ending September 30 - another first for the platform.
The platform's growth has been particularly strong in connected TV (CTV) viewing, capturing 11.1% of all U.S. TV viewing time in December, according to Nielsen. It also became the most viewed app on Connected TVs.

YouTube has also emerged as America's leading podcast platform, with users consuming 400 million hours of podcast content in their living rooms last year. The platform demonstrated its reach during the election season, with 45 million Americans engaging with election-related content on November 5 alone.
However, despite YouTube's strong performance exceeding analyst expectations, Alphabet's total revenue fell short of Wall Street's forecasts, leading to a 7% decline in after-hours trading.
The company is heavily investing in AI technology, announcing a $75 billion capital expenditure plan, with YouTube set to benefit through the upcoming Veo 2 video creation tool - an AI-powered system capable of generating premium 4K short-form content, scheduled for release to creators later this year.
